Η εκστρατεία μας "Περιορίστε τις Κλιματικές Αλλαγές" έχει επίσημα τελειώσει. Έχουμε μαζέψει περισσότερα από 650 κομμάτια υφάσματος με τα δικά σας μυνήματα για τις κλιματικές αλλαγές που θα σταλούν στο Πόσναν της Πολωνίας για την σύνοδο του Ο.Η.Ε.!!! Σας ευχαριστούμε πολύ για την βοήθεια σας!

ΠΑΓΚΥΠΡΙΟΣ ΦΩΤΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΟΣ ΔΙΑΓΩΝΙΣΜΟΣ

ΘΕΜΑ: Το περιβάλλον μας  

Ο Διαγωνισμός γίνεται με τη συνεργασία της
Φωτογραφικής Εταιρείας Κύπρου (ΦΕΚ), Τμήμα Λεμεσού και
της Οικολογικής Οργάνωσης – Φίλοι της Γης Κύπρου

Η διάρκεια υποβολής συμμετοχών έχει λήξει στις 22 Νοεμβρίου 2008. Οι φωτογραφίες συλλέκτηκαν και αξιολογήθηκαν από την κριτηκή επιτροπή.  Οι βραβεβμένες φωτογραφίες του διαγωνισμού μαζί με άλλες επιλεγμένες απο την επιτροπή θα εκθεθούν στη Στέγη Γραμμάτων και Τεχνών, γωνία Γλάδστωνος & Βίκτωρος Ουγκό από τις 8 Δεκεμβρίου  μέχρι τις 13 Δεκεμβρίου από τις 3:00 μμ μέχρι τις 8:00 μμ . Σας καλούμε να παρεβρεθείτε για να τις απολαύσουμε μαζί!

FEEDING AND FUELLING EUROPE


The Cyprus  group is participating in a three year campaign called Feeding & Fuelling Europe. Most of the EU countries are taking part and it is being funded partially by the EU. The campaign will run from now until 2010.There will be a combined European launch of the campaign by the end of 2008. Each country will have campaigns on these same main subjects related to the specific situations in each country.

The FoE Cyprus group will have related discussions with the media – both newspapers & TV. In addition we will have seminars in the main towns to explain the aims of the campaign.  For obvious reasons we will not be growing biofuels [currently the more accurate word has been changed to Agrofuels] in Cyprus anyway.  Both for the lack of adequate agricultural land available and particularly the lack of water required for such a scheme.

Already we have had good results in combating EU proposals on this subject. The EU originally wanted all EU countries to have 10% usage of Biofuels/Agrofuels by 2020. Due the current world wide problems of food shortages, and the actions of destroying rain forests in South America and South Asia to grow Soy beans and Palm oils, the proposed EU legislation has now been amended to be 4% by 2015, with a review after that date. They have at last recognized that food is more important than alternative fuels.

There has been much debate recently about the advantages of biofuels from Soy/Palm oils being better for CO2 emissions. There is now a conclusion that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.  We have to concentrate on alternative fuels, less meat consumption and energy solutions.The latter will be covered in a new campaign on Energy alternatives that is soon to be launched by MedNet countries. [ie Spain; France; Italy; Malta; Cyprus, Tunisia, Lebanon]    More to follow on this.
